Elections Commission

     On behalf of Elections Commission, the Executive Branch of the MMC Student Government and the Student Body as a whole I’d like to thank you for your interest in being a part of our 2013 elections. Engaging the political process affords students the opportunity not only to represent their peers as members of the Student Government but to also be a positive influence for progress. Working hand in hand with FIU’s professional staff, faculty and administration as well as with members of the Panther community on the whole, becoming part of our governing institution gives students a unique and fundamentally important perspective into the practical world of political discourse. Our role as the Elections Commission is to both oversee the elections cycle but also to provide guidance to future leaders as they undertake the candidacy process. To that end, it is our hope act as relatively unseen parts of the political machine. That said, I will always be personally available to meet with candidates and their representatives to address concerns and assist in any way I can so as to make the elections run as smoothly as possible. It is my sincere hope — and the hope of the Elections Commission, SGA Executive Branch and the whole Panther community — that this year’s election will be the kind of exciting and rewarding experience that you will remember for years to come.
     Instead of wishing you the best of luck, I leave you with this advice from Oscar Wilde: “Success is a science; if you have the conditions, you get the result.”
