The Panther Statue project has been years in the making by different Student Government Administrations. Having its beginnings in the Rionda administration, the Panther Statue is finally close to being a reality. Through the hard work of our SGA Presidents the project has been moved up on the agenda and completion is expected by our Spring Commencement 2011. The location of the statue while not yet set in stone, is expected to be in front of the newly renovated Panther Arena. President O’Keefe and Vice President Udhnani look to “Get it Done” for FIU Students, as we bring a great new bronze mascot on campus. Get excited Panthers! We’re finally getting a Golden Panther to call our own!
Collaboration with Frost Art Museum
The museum is accredited from the American Associations of Museums (AAM) and is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. This partnership will ensure that students (specially those not highly involved on campus) get an opportunity to visit the Frost Art Museum and experience its innovative exhibitions. The O’Keefe/Udhnani Administration look to boost attendance and visitation to the Museum’s weekly events and their “Target Wednesday’s After Hours”. More information could be found about this great campus social event [Here].
National Fellowships Readiness Group
The aim of this program will be to gather a group of FIU students and mentor them to have perfectly polished resumes, recommendation letters, cover letters, and applications to nationally recognized fellowships and scholarships. This will not only benefits the students as they will be able to achieve prestigious recognition around the country and the world, but it will also allow the university’s name to travel nationally and globally.
